Cinnamoroll, the cute puppy named for a perfect sweet treat, has been a fan favorite for years. Now he’s teaming up with a similarly-named dog for a new collaboration!
The Sanrio character will be appearing in a series of collaborative artwork with upcoming anime protagonist Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga, a bandana-wearing Shiba Inu who also happens to be the legendary daimyo reincarnated. Cinnamoroll may not have conquered armies, but he has conquered the hearts of fans, winning the Sanrio Character Grand Prix for two years straight in 2017 and 2018.
The collaboration is taking place both on Cinnamoroll’s Twitter and Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga‘s Twitter, where the same art was shared with commentary from each character. Cinnamoroll comments about meeting a new friend who shares his name, while Nobunaga notes meeting a “weird-looking dog” at a trendy café. More art will be posted tomorrow.
Cinnamoroll designer Miyuki Okumura also happens to be a history buff with a special interest in Oda Nobunaga, and is a fan of the Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga manga. She was excited to get to draw her creation alongside the canine manga star, imagining how they might get along.
Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga premieres in January.
